The Bracciano and Martignano Regional Park covers 15,000 hectares and encompasses both lakes of the Sabatino basin. The local fauna is represented by a wide variety of species, including terrestrial, aerial, and aquatic forms.
The coexistence of the Protected Area with agricultural activities is by no means straightforward or balanced. The limited attention paid by political bodies to productive activities discourages dialogue and poses significant challenges for the region’s economic stakeholders. Farmers, for better or for worse, are the de facto custodians of the territory, regardless of any criticism. The environmental beauty—which private individuals have diligently and resolutely sought to preserve by defending it against speculative encroachments—is indisputably tangible evidence of this.
